Individual, couple,
family and group therapy

Looking at the View

Individual counseling and therapy

Counseling and therapy is a joint process between yourself and a trained professional. It aims to help people understand, overcome and deal with personal difficulties such as difficult personal relationships, anger, conflict, trauma, abuse and many more.

Family therapy and couples counseling

Family therapy and couples counseling are techniques where the therapist meets the individual and one or more other family members. The intention is that, whatever the difficulty, other family members are part of the solution and therefore should be included in the therapy or treatment.

Specializations

The somatic approach

The somatic approach aims to increase body awareness in relation to well-being. The word 'soma' comes from the Greek for 'body'.  As such, the somatic approach includes a range of experiential approaches aimed at reclaiming body awareness in order to improve well-being.

The service includes awareness of breathing, body and thoughts through guided visualization and movement. The approach is based on the premise that the difficulties we experience on different levels: social, biological, psychological and spiritual, can become embedded in the body and can prevent us from living a life in harmony with body and mind.

To this end, the intention of the somatic approach is to guide you in experiencing moments of mind-body connection by interrupting the stress response cycle.

Specialization and support for LGBTQIA+ people

Members of the LGBTQIA+ community often face unique obstacles such as a lack of resources, isolation, prejudice, unsuitable therapeutic approaches and so on. The members of the Centre's team have this population at heart, which is why several members have specializations related to the particular needs of the people belonging to this community as well as for their families.

In this way, the Mind at Peace Centre offers various types of support to LGBTQIA+ people and those around them.  These services include specialized therapeutic services to meet the needs of each individual. What's more, this support also extends to offering accompaniment to family members in need.

In addition to therapy, the Mind at Peace Centre also offers specific psychological assessments for the community, such as referral letters for hormone treatments and gender confirmation surgeries.

Autism Spectrum Specialization

We offer evaluation services to confirm the diagnosis, therapeutic support to the individual and his/her family following the diagnosis, psychoeducation and accompaniment with a specialized approach (SACCADE).

SACCADE is based on scientific research on the neurodevelopmental approach specialized with the Autism Spectrum Disorder. The approach uses cognitive strategies focused on the internal functions and needs of the person with autism. The purpose of using these strategies is to help people diagnosed with the autism spectrum disorder to gain access to more information, receive a better understanding, communication, and expression of their emotions.
